Know how does the disease happens

All diseases arise from dysfunction in the body’s systems and from insufficient heat-energy. When tissues cannot operate in harmony, and when the body lacks heat-energy necessary to sustain the function, an imbalance occurs. This imbalance weakens vitality, disrupts natural repair mechanisms, and opens the path for illness to develop.

Health and illness are simply two different states, both subject to change. When the body is given the right conditions, it can awaken its powerful capacity for self-healing and shift from illness back to health. No matter how long a disease has persisted, as long as it remains within the body’s ability to heal, recovery is possible.

Healing begins with Well Balanced Self-Healing Medicine

Key features of Well Balanced Self-Healing Medicine

1. Integration of Diagnosis and Treatment

While providing rapid relief from symptoms, we also identify the location of the root cause and the severity of the illness. Based on this assessment, a personalized medical plan is developed to create optimal conditions for the body to enhance its self-healing abilities. If symptoms exceed the body’s natural healing capacity, we can swiftly determine whether immediate surgical intervention or special procedure is necessary—ensuring timely and effective care without delay.

2. Integration of Medical Care and Health Maintenance
By focusing on boosting the body’s heat-energy as the foundation of healthcare, we incorporate this approach into everyday life. This helps accelerate recovery, stabilize treatment outcomes, prevent relapse, strengthen the body’s constitution, and promote a longer life filled with youthfulness, vitality, and well-being.

Position of Well Balanced Self-Healing Medicine

The First Step in Medical Care

Maximizing the body’s self-healing capacity allows us to determine two critical things:

  1. The underlying cause of symptoms
  2. Whether the illness has exceeded the range of self-healing

This approach guides the creation of accurate treatment plans—avoiding both overtreatment and the risks of neglect.

Example: Persistent pain inside the ear (2 days, pain score 7/10).
After applying treatment to stimulate self-healing (e.g., pressing and rubbing the area behind the ear and occiput), three possible outcomes may occur:

1. Pain score drops to 0 immediately.

  • Cause: Tissue dysfunction occurred at the area behind the ear and occiput.

  • Action: Symptom resolved; continue daily care to consolidate recovery.

2. Pain score drops to 3 immediately.

  • Cause: Tissue dysfunction plus insufficient body's heat-energy.

  • Action: Provide continuous warmth; symptoms will gradually resolve.

3. Pain score remains at 7, no improvement after warming.

  • Cause: Illness has exceeded self-healing capacity.

  • Action: Refer to an ENT specialist for evaluation (e.g., possible surgery). Once the condition is stabilized and returns within self-healing range—such as non-stop bleeding after suturing—treatment should shift back to strengthening self-healing capacity.

This method integrates treatment and diagnosis: it resolves many symptoms quickly while also identifying when medical intervention is truly necessary. That makes it especially effective as the first step in medical care.

The Principle of Daily Health Maintenance

All illnesses originate from two root causes:

  1. Tissue dysfunction
  2. Insufficient body heat energy

Medical treatment can correct tissue dysfunction and relieve symptoms—but only daily lifestyle practices can replenish and preserve body heat energy.

The Core Principle: Replenish and Maintain Body's Heat-Energy

This is achieved through practicing the Three Balances in everyday life:

  • Mind Balance
    • Maintain a peaceful mindset

    • Regular self-reflection and emotional check-ins

  • Heat Balance
    • Inner: Eat a balanced, warming diet

    • Outer: Keep the body warm and comfortable

  • Body Balance
    • Ensure sufficient rest and sleep

    • Stay active with balanced exercise

Goals

  • Enhance the quality of medical care
  • Reduce unnecessary medical costs
  • Free people from the fear of illness
  • Prolong a joyful, healthy life

Meet Our Doctor

David Chang

Founder of Well Balanced Self-Healing Medicine

President of Well Family Acupuncture & Herbs and Well Family Integrative Medicine Clinic

Proud father of a son and daughter

Dr. David Chang began his medical journey at National Yang Ming University in Taipei. After graduation, he served in the Navy hospital in Penghu and later worked in the Nuclear Medicine Department in Taichung. During these years, he gradually recognized the limitations of modern medicine and was inspired to pursue Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at South Baylo University in Los Angeles. Alongside his studies, he apprenticed under Dr. Ni, a renowned master of classical TCM in Florida, and completed his Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2009.

In 2010, Dr. Chang was introduced to Yuan Shi Dian (YSD), a groundbreaking medical discovery developed by Master Chang Chao Han in Taiwan. After applying YSD in his practice and treating thousands of patients, he came to see both the strengths and blind spots of TCM. Realizing the profound importance of this new medical perspective for humanity and future generations, he began nonprofit volunteer work in 2011 to share YSD with the public.

In 2012, Dr. Chang opened his private acupuncture practice in Chino to serve the community. His mission is not only to treat illness with the highest quality of care, but also to empower patients with simple, effective methods to stay healthy and live without fear of disease.

William Lin

William Lin has dedicated his career to improving people’s health, well-being, and future opportunities. He graduated in 2010 with a master degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, specializing in acupuncture and herbal medicine. Early in his journey, he worked as a health instructor at a local association, teaching community members how to live healthier, more balanced lives.

William’s professional path has been diverse. He served as a General Manager of a major food chain company for three years, later becoming an entrepreneur to help individuals and families strengthen their financial futures. He also worked as a college consultant for five years, guiding high school students in identifying their dream schools, applying successfully, and preparing for fulfilling careers.

In 2022, William returned to his original passion for healing. After intensive training with his mentor, Dr. David Chang, he earned his acupuncture license in April 2023. Today, he serves the community through his two acupuncture clinics located in Chino, California, and El Monte, California. In addition to his private practice, he also provides care for patients in sub-acute units and medical facilities, supporting individuals with a wide range of critical health conditions.

Through every stage of his journey, William’s mission has remained the same: supporting people on their path to health, balance, and a brighter future.

Meng Hsuan Christine Lin

Dr. Meng Hsuan Christine Lin is a licensed chiropractor dedicated to helping patients restore and maintain their health through natural and holistic care. She graduated from Southern California University of Health Sciences in 2009, and since then, she has been committed to providing personalized, effective chiropractic treatment for people of all ages, especially for scoliosis patients.

Later in her career, she had the privilege of learning from Dr. David Chang and Dr. William Lin, who introduced her to the principles of Well Balanced Self-Healing Medicine. Their mentorship greatly influenced her approach to healing — combining traditional chiropractic techniques with a deeper focus on addressing the root causes of pain and discomfort.

Dr. Meng Hsuan Christine Lin offers care in both English and Mandarin, so patients can feel comfortable and clearly understood throughout their treatment journey.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or simply looking to improve your overall well-being, she looks forward to being part of your healing journey.

Eric Tsai

Licensed Acupuncturist Dr. Eric Tsai

graduated from University of Otago with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in New Zealand. After working for three years in the pharmacy, he made a life changing decision, which was to follow his father's footsteps as an oriental medicine practitioner.

Dr. Tsai received his Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from South Baylo University and was licensed by California Acupuncture Board in 2014. In 2023, he met Dr. David Chang and Dr. William Lin, who introduced "Well Balanced Self-Healing Medicine" to him.

Dr. Tsai is impressed by the significant improvement in patients' healing outcome. Therefore, he decided to join Well Family Acupuncture & Herbs.
